I’m pleased to congratulate Moscow State University and all of its teachers, staff members, students, and graduates in many countries all over the world on the occasion of this remarkable date that falls on the 19th of November 2011, the 300th anniversary of the birth of the great Russian scientist Mikhail Lomonosov. His contribution to the development of world science, culture, and education is so important and significant in a great variety of knowledge areas, such as physics, astronomy, chemistry, geology, meteorology, navigation, Russian history and grammar, political economy and population science, that the vast amount and encyclopedic nature of his research and discoveries continue to command the respect and amazement of many generations through the centuries. |
