Yakutia’s delegation visits UNESCO’s headquarters

On November 7-11, 2016, a delegation of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) visited the UNESCO headquarters in Paris. The delegation comprised the republic’s education minister F. Gabysheva, chair of the regional division of the Russian national public movement Mothers of Russia P. Borisova, head of the regulations execution division of the Yakut presidential administration R. Zhirkova, secretary of the Committee for UNESCO affairs E. Sidorova and head of the innovative development department of the Sosnovy Bor children’s vacation and rehabilitation center Y. Fedorov.

During the visit, the delegation met with Russia’s permanent representative to UNESCO A. Kuznetsov to discuss the state and outlook of Yakutia’s cooperation with UNESCO.

At the UNESCO Secretariat, the delegates met with David Atchoarena, Director of the Division for Policies and Lifelong Learning Systems (the Education Sector), Dendev Badarch, Director of the Division of Social Transformations and Intercultural Dialog (the Social and Human Sciences Sector), Tim Curtis, chief of the Culture Section of the Creativity Department (the Culture Sector) and Boyan Radoykov, chief of the Universal Access and Preservation Section (the Communication and Information Sector).

During the talks, the parties discussed projects of International Intellectual Games, the International Arctic Schools, a children’s multi-purpose industrial park, preservation of languages and their development in cyberspace, studies of epics of different peoples of the world and participation of Yakutia’s educational establishments in the UNESCO Associated Schools Project Network.
