Bikin National Park in Primorsky Krai may be included in the UNESCO World Heritage list

Experts of the International Union for Conservation of Nature of UNESCO World Heritage in February will decide on the inclusion of the maritime national park "Bikin" in the UNESCO World Heritage List, according to the press service of the Primorsky Territory Administration.

"The final decision on the inclusion of the National Park in the UNESCO World Heritage List will be taken by experts of the International Union for Conservation of Nature in February 2018," the report said.

The Bikin National Park is located in the Pozharsky district of Primorsky Krai and occupies more than one million hectares. It was created in September 2016. UNESCO World Heritage includes natural or cultural objects, which should be preserved and popularized due to their special cultural, historical or ecological significance.

To date, in the Far East, four natural sites enjoy the world heritage status: Central Sikhote-Alin, Kamchatka Volcanoes, Wrangel Island and the Lena Pillars.
