International project “Children’s crafts contest-exhibition “The Red Book through children’s eyes” as a part of International environment campaign “To Save and Protect” under the aegis of the Commission of the Russian Federation for UNESCO and the International association “The Northern Forum”

Project goal:

Formation of environmental culture and pro-active attitude of the younger generation in relation to the problem of species diversity reducing of flora and fauna in certain regions and the planet in whole.

Project tasks:

  • Attract attention of the international community to the current environment protection issues;
  • Develop the international children cooperation in the sphere of ecology through the experience exchange on various creative and environmental activities;
  • Popularize environmental friendliness and respect for natural resources of the planet, Russia and their small motherland by means of artistic fine art:
  • Educate children from different countries and regions for universal human values in accordance with the principle of cultural and natural diversity preservation;
  • Inspire and develop creative potential of students based on the study of natural, historical and cultural heritage;
  • Activate the propaganda of saving the certain species of flora and fauna as integral parts of sustainable development of entire natural systems.

Participants:

Students of general education institutions, basic and secondary professional education institutions, supplementary education institutions (art schools, studios, coteries) at the age of 6-17 residing in the territory of the Russian Federation and abroad.

Project milestones:

  1. Absentia competition of creative works (2012-2013)
  2. Organization of the touring exhibition in the towns of the Khanty-Mansiysk autonomous okrug – Ugra and the Russian Federation (2012-2013)

For the participation in the exhibition the best competition works in all nominations from the competition are chosen.

  1. Publication of the source book of the best Project creative works.

The best creative works in all nominations with attached annotation to each work are published in the sourcebook summarizing the results of the Competition.

The sourcebook is issued in paper and electronic forms (CD).

The Sourcebooks and CDs are distributed among teachers, sponsors, winners of the competition and also among libraries, education institutions, museums, specially protected natural areas and other organizations and institutions of the autonomous okrug and the Russian Federation.

More than 4000 children from 63 regions of Russia, former Soviet Union and other foreign countries have sent their works concerned with rare species of fauna and flora to participate in the competition. According to the contest rules, creative works are made following the impressions of the Red Book, after watching film, observation of the declining species in the specially protected natural areas, participation in biologic expeditions.

From February 13th to September 29th 2013 in the museum of oil and gas geology was held the children’s crafts exhibition “The Red Book through children’s eyes”. The exhibition is implemented within the framework of the Environment Year and XI International Environment Action “To save and Protect”. In the exhibition were featured 70 works in three nominations – painting, graphic art, sculpture. The goal of the exhibition is formation of environmental culture, riveting public attention to the current environment protection issues.
