The UNESCO Moscow Office, the Centre “Intercultural Dialogue” and the “National High School Debate League” of the Republic of Moldova are launching the joint project aimed to raise the awareness of youth in the Republic of Moldova on HIV & AIDS prevention, having a special focus on HIV-related stigma and discrimination.
The information-educational campaign, being an integrated part of the UNAIDS-UNESCO 2008-2009 project aimed at the strengthening HIV responses targeting young people with a particular aim of reducing stigma and discrimination, contains a series of training events which shall be organized within the period of September – December 2009 in the different towns of the Republic of Moldova.
3 regional debate seminars will be arranged for teachers in order to integrate the innovative methodology and tools for HIV prevention education as well as promote human rights and fight against HIV related stigma and discrimination.
15 local one-day workshops will be organized for high school students to inform young people about HIV & AIDS prevention as well as human rights of PLHIV and fight against HIV related stigma and discrimination.
60 public debates will be conducted with a goal to draw the public’s attention to the protection of human rights and fight against HIV related stigma and discrimination.
The overall objective of the programme is to involve the civil society of the Republic of Moldova, especially its youth, into the wide-range meaningful and productive discussions on the most urgent social problems facing Moldavian society and tackling them.
